Upon receiving an invitation to the media preview of the newest Sephora store opening on the Gold Coast at Pacific Fair, I was so excited! With only four days notice to receive time off work, this being my only criticism. The actual day was very well run with two separate lines so passersby could still get around the mall easily. This also allowed for a lot more order within the running of the day.
I travelled to Pacific Fair via trains and buses from about 6:45am which was a bit of a shock to my body clock, given I typically wake up for work around 6:15am, let alone be fully ready and out the door! About three hours later I arrived at Pacific Fair only to realise I no longer knew my way around the Pacific Fair I had grown up with! Luckily, the new Sephora is located right as you enter the mall from the bus stop, which I quickly found out by following the noise from the DJ and those lining up.
From what I have heard, many were lining up from midnight (the opening was midday) so we definitely felt a bit bad when we got to jump the line and enter two hours earlier than them at 10am! Media received a 20% off voucher to everything in the store which was incredibly exciting, given that Sephora typically has a 20% off sale once or twice a year. I was quite restrained as I am currently saving my spending money for a camera to better improve my blog images.
While we were waiting in line, we were given goody bags which contained a few samples, a current magazine, a Sephora water bottle and Sephora jelly beans. The Sephora girls did come around and hand out a few more samples throughout the morning including the IT Cosmetics CC cream which I am excited to try out soon.
At first, I didn’t know where to go in the store, it was quite overwhelming, to say the least! I missed the Melbourne store opening by three days last year and have not been to Sydney since any stores have opened.
I then went to the Tarte stand where everyone was frothing over the latest Tarte palette, the Tartelette in Bloom palette. If you’ve read my June/July Favourites than you will already know that I picked up this palette and I’ve not regretted my decision! With great pigmentation and stunning colours, this is a strong palette to use on its own, a trait I require from any palette purchase.
I then walked another metre to the Kat Von D stand where I started swatching the liquid lipsticks. Previously I only owned one product from KVD, the Shade and Light Contour Palette I picked up when the online store first opened last year. I tried a few of the pinky shades I had specifically walked over for, and after much indecision, I ended up purchasing both Mother and Lovesick. I had seen these colours used on a few Youtubers and they were much too pretty to leave. I actually applied Lovesick when I got home and wore it the rest of the afternoon and evening, the lasting power is fantastic and they feel lovely on the lips!
The last thing I purchased was the dual package of pink Beauty Blenders that comes with a Beauty Blender Cleanser. I actually ended up trading one of them to my mum for a hair curling wand but that’s another story! I am interested in trying out the Beauty Blender Cleanser and may even do a review on it, however, I can’t see how anyone could justify getting this over the Daiso Sponge cleanser which is fantastic and only $2.80!
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Sephora Australia, and I didn’t find the prices too unreasonable at all, quite comparable to Mecca in terms of US tax + Conversion + Shipping. Thanks to One Day Dream PR for making it happen!
