I haven’t done a haul post in quite some time, and I’ve been collecting a little bit so I thought I’d do a little collective haul on what’s new in beauty to me with a makeup and skincare haul. Some I picked up at Sephora Singapore on holiday in October, some have been on the wishlist for awhile! This is what I’ve picked up since June or so.
New In Beauty: Makeup and Skincare Haul
In the eye and eyebrow makeup collection, I’ve picked up a few new bits. I’ve picked up the highly raved about Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette and holy moly it is the most pigmented palette I’ve ever used. The first time I used it, being used to Urban Decay and Too Faced, I dunked my brush in only to get a literal cloud of eyeshadow in my face! Now I have a much lighter hand. I also picked up the Smashbox Covershot Ablaze palette after seeing ChelseaJaneDaily put together a beautiful look, it’s similar in initial shades to the MR palette, but swatch wise is totally different. I’ve been using the Ablaze palette in a “Palette A Week” challenge.
Lastly, and my only purchase of makeup so far in 2018, is the Stila Matte’n Metal palette which I’ve had used on me for a few makeup applications at Mecca and since I got a voucher for my recent birthday I decided to get this as a treat! I love the day-to-day usage of it, as it can be a day or night palette.
I also picked up a few new mascaras as I was running low: the Urban Decay Perversion mini which I love as my everyday mascara, and Tarte Lights Camera Flashes mascara which is great for lengthening. Lastly, I picked up the Hourglass Brow Arch Pencil to replace my Benefit Goof proof and it feels so luxurious! I haven’t used it heaps yet, as I’m trying to use up the Benefit Gimmie Brow gel first.
In terms of face makeup, I’ve amassed a bit more. In terms of primers, I have picked up the Becca First Light Priming Filter (mini) which is great for glow, Smashbox Priming Water which I haven’t really played with yet, and the Too Faced Hangover Primer which is great for refreshing matte foundations although the smell makes me a little nauseous. I’ve picked up three foundations: the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation in Fair Neutral which is great for everyday wear, Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Foundation in Fair Beige which is quite thick but mousse-like and stays on well for long days, and the IT Cosmetics CC Cream in Fair which is nice and lightweight although I’m still playing around with application technique.
In terms of powder I picked up the Hourglass Volume III palette from their Christmas collection even though I have a few shades already, the Hourglass x Mecca20 palette which has quickly become my favourite travel 3-in-one palette, the Charlotte Tilbury Sculpt and Highlight palette which is as dreamy as it looks, Tarte’s cult blush in Exposed which is a gorgeous muted pink, the Kat Von D loose powder which I haven’t played around with yet, and the Becca Poured Highlighter in Moonstone which I’ve only used a tiny bit. Face products are my favourite, and I can’t wait to play around more!
What was once my most bought for category is now my least, and that is lips! I’ve only purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Matchbox Trio over the last year, and 2/3 of the shades will be perfect for me. I’ll still have to try and find a way to make Kim KW work on my skin as it’s lighter than a concealer!! Carina’s Love (red) and Secret Salma (mauve) will keep me busy.
I’ve been trying a few skincare items lately as a lot of my skincare was not cruelty-free. I received a few items from Pixi Beauty such as a personalised Glow Tonic* and upon using twice daily, my skin has been feeling fantastic. Recently, I also received their Rose Caviar Essense* and the Rose Flash Balm* which I’m looking forward to trying to out shortly.
I am trying the Philosophy Pore Extractor Mask* and it’s a lovely cream clay, which I haven’t come across before so I look forward to seeing the results of this. After loving a sample, I bought a mini tube of the Kate Somerville Exfolikate scrub and I am in love. It’s the best chemical but not at all harsh exfoliator and was well worth the $35 for the mini tube! Lastly, I picked up The Ordinary Niamicide 10% + Zinc 1% to use for congestion and dull skin based on Little Henry Lee’s recommendation and I have been enjoying using it twice a day. I’ll keep you posted as to how it goes!
That’s everything I’ve picked up over the last six months or so. Let me know if there’s anything you would like to see more of in reviews.
