When I sat down to write my January favourites this year I wasn’t entirely sure what to write about. There hadn’t been any clear favourites this month, or any new products, and I had only worn makeup for the second half of the month when I went back to work. With that said, I picked some favourites that I was reminded to use this month when I opened my makeup drawer.
Nars Blush in Lustre is my favourite Nars Blush of all time! Don’t let the orange tone scare you, the golden tones to this Blush leave a hint of golden shimmer but mostly a lovely warm glow that really compliments all skin tones from fair to tan. I’ve honestly recommended this Blush to so many people as the staple, above Nars Orgasm. It also has really great pigmentation, giving great colour from one sweep, but you don’t have to worry about overdoing it either. Nars have really nailed it in that regard.
The Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in Incandescent Strobe Light was mentioned last month, but as it’s the main product I’ve been using I thought I ought to mention it again. It has a beautiful natural glow, perfect for the office! You can’t go wrong with Hourglass products for their quality.
Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Berry is a lipstick I’ve had for ages, since the early days of my makeup obsession. The colour is absolutely stunning, however, with all Melted shades, I find I get a fair bit of colour bleed so you will need to use a lip liner. I use Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Berry and it’s a perfect match. One thing I really love about the Too Faced Melted range is the finish. With a more satin feel, and not fully matte I usually prefer this finish to most other shades in my collection. It does transfer, so you’ll need to be wary of that when eating, that reapplying is necessary.
I bought the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette in April last year, but it has recently been rereleased at Mecca Maxima. I thoroughly love the left side of the palette (lighter shades) and use these often. I don’t really use the right side, apart from the matte browns as they are not colours I tend to use on a daily basis. The shades all swatch really well, but it’s up to you which shades you would realistically use, as I mainly use lighter everyday colours. I’m trying to chalk up the courage to wear that green shade, as I love the look of it!
