Recently, I did a post on my everyday shades for Mac Cosmetics, now I’m up to my standout colours for night or just if you’re feeling colourful (fabulous I would say).
First up is Ruby Woo, a retro matte finish. I walked into Mac Cosmetics on 5th Avenue, NYC in January determined to find a red lipstick which suited me and made me feel AMAZING. I cannot be disappointed in anyway with Ruby Woo! She is my Holy Grail of Red’s, nothing compares. A bright, unmovable red (I also purchased Brick in the lip liner to match, my only Mac lipliner), perfect when you want to amp up your look. I admit I don’t wear her nearly as much as I want to but I’m vowing to change that! Another red I’d be willing to try would have to be Lady Danger as I’ve heard similar things about that one. Ruby Woo has an almost orangey but blue red in my opinion, and I have a neutral skintone as described by everyone who’s ever matched me for a foundation.
Flat Out Fabulous is exactly that! I hadn’t worn it since January until Friday night and boy did I forget how damn fabulous she makes me feel! It seems more pink toned on my arm but when I bought it I didn’t even swatch it would you believe it… I literally saw it as I was purchasing Ruby Woo and added it to my basket! Luckily, it’s a fantastically bright purple-toned colour on me. Sometimes purple, sometimes pink. Either way, too fabulous for words! Flat Out is a Retro Matte like Ruby Woo, so often a bit drying, and definitely accentuates any dryness or peeling on your lips.
Rebel was another long sought after shade I recently bought myself for my birthday. A satin finish, Rebel stays on pretty damn well and also stains the lips a bit so it really quite long lasting. A deep berry shade on my lips, Rebel was one I was warned against by many people because of it’s dark colour in the tube and on others. However, I was excited to find that it suited me perfectly and was a great almost plum colour on my lips!
Viva Glam III was one I saw on the lips of a girl on my Contiki on the second last night of our US trip in January and knew I had to have. A little bit dramatic, she makes me look more tan and my teeth whiter. A great look for night time when you want just a bit more oomph to your look. Plus, all the proceeds of Viva Glam Lipsticks go to AIDS. Viva Glam III is a Matte finish and I find it stays on well, goes on well (creamy) and isn’t as drying as retro matte.
Hope you’ve enjoyed my reviews of my Mac Lipsticks collection, next I’ll be reviewing my recent addiction of the Maybelline Velvet Colour Pencils!
