Disappointing products title

Don’t you hate when you buy a product because of the hype and they end up being disappointing products for you? I feel like this happens a lot! A few of these might also be in your disappointing products list! These products are definitely not horrible products or anything – just didn’t work for my skin and hair!

Disappointing products too faced maybelline garnier australis

I don’t know about you, but I hate parting with my money if I don’t feel like I’m getting my money’s worth! I spend hours, weeks and months deciding if I want to purchase something by researching it online in Blogs or YouTube Clips, swatching and testing it in store, and finally, asking everyone I know if they know anybody who’s tried it! After this extended process, I generally purchase, as if I decide I’m not interested anymore, this usually happens after testing it in store!

One a lot of people might have in their disappointing products list is the Australis On Tour Contour Palette, or AContour as it’s other name states. I was excited to try this product after seeing it raved about by absolutely everyone and from then I attempted to track it down! And track it down I finally did, at Priceline’s 40% off sale in March! I got the last one in my store and was super excited to use it. I thought maybe it wasn’t really working for me because I was very new to contouring, but no, it is just generally too chalky and difficult to work with, even the Banana shade which became the only shade I used, was just too much product no matter how to tried to shake it off (Thanks T-Swift!). Currently it sits at the back of my makeup collection and there it will most likely stay.

Garnier Extra Strong Flex & Hold Spray was another disappointment, but this time for my hair. As my mum is a Hairdresser, I always have access to the best of anything hair related, straight from the supplier! I wanted a lighter hold hairspray as the main one I use is super strength! I found this one works great, for a few hours, then it becomes nothing in your hair at all. Certainly not what I was looking for in a hairspray! I have other products in this range and they work great with my hair (Thin and straight), but this one has no love for me.

A lot of people are going to hate me for this one, but I didn’t enjoy the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara! Ahhh I tried to love it, I really did, but I find personally it flakes on me badly and doesn’t even seem to do anything to my lashes that I find even drugstore quality works better on me. At first I didn’t like that it was a wet-based formula, however it has dried slightly and is a bit better to use. I love majority of my Too Faced items but this one was a miss for me, I do love the packaging though! Overall, a miss for me.

Mac Fix+ was a strange one, I definitely still use it, but to be honest, I notice no difference between it and my Australis Spritzing spray which is why I found it to be disappointing. I have really dry skin from my nose to my chin and on my cheeks so I love the idea of refreshing spritz’s to give my skin a bit of dewey-ness, however for the same price for a 30ml bottle as a 120ml bottle of Drugstore product, there’s no competition really. I’ll still find this really handy for travel for sure, but when it runs out, I may be filling it with my Australis one as I don’t see a difference!

Maybelline Colour Tattoo’s are great to start with, but many of mine have turned hard, even though they’re tightly sealed in the jar! I have 3 and the one I use most, Barely Branded, is going hard around the edges, as you can see here. I also don’t like how they soak into your fingers when applying, but if you apply with a brush you get almost no colour payoff to your skin! I’m glad I picked these up on Sale as I wanted to try them out, and they do give great colour payoff, if you apply with your fingers and are happy to give them a good clean afterwards!

Maybelline Brow Drama is another miss for me, I find while the colour is spot on, the gel is very hardening and difficult to remove! I know this is ideal for some people though, but personally I love my Benefit Gimmie Brow as it’s much lighter for my brows. In saying that, I have been using Brow Drama lately as part of Katina Linda‘s #mixupyomakeup challenge over on Instagram and enjoying how much it keeps my brows together instead of unruly. I guess this one has it’s miss days and it’s good days for me! And I’ll keep my Gimmie Brow around for it’s ‘miss’ days.

Too Faced’s Eye Shadow Insurance has been disappointing, more because I tried the sample I received in my April Mecca Beauty Box and loved it so much, as soon as I finished it, I purchased a full size! I’m disappointed because the product has become really watery, no matter how much I shake the bottle before squirting it out. Also, because when I finally did get it to not be watery the other day, a HUGE glob came out instead and I was so sad because it got wasted. I think the consistency didn’t work for me, but I’m still willing to try til it’s all gone! Just don’t know what I’ll be using as a primer next (Any suggestions, leave them in the comments haha)!

That’s all my disappointing products for the time being, not too bad considering I’ve never written a disappointing products review before! I definitely still think all of these products could work for anybody!
